Have you ever watched Market Kitchen ?  It’s a sort of “chatty magazine lifestyle” format featuring food writers Tom Parker Bowles and Matthew Fort.  It’s the culinary equivalent of Pebble Mill (now I’m showing my age) and features various minor celebrity chefs such as Aldo Zilli, Rachel Allen and that bloke with the tattoed neck who won the Jamie Oliver “own your own restaurant/pub” competition who makes a lot of pasta (must be his “thing”).

Well her ladyship pointed something out today while said Market Kitchen was on (yet again) the food channel.  She pointed out how there are so many “foreign” recipes, and pointed out that English people tend to like English food.  Not that there’s anything wrong with non English food but we shouldn’t discount our own great produce.  Where are the spring greens, the stilton cheese, the British fish, steak and kidney puddings and the like ?  Not everybody wants pak choi chorizo stirfry.  Not everyone wants the three primary ingredients of every dish to be garlic, onions and chilli.  She has a point ….

Mind you I’m hungry today and all I keep thinking about is paella ….  Oh and Rachel Allen, sigh, what a woman ;-)
